Outdoor Entertaining

Outdoor Entertaining

Now that we have longer days and warmer weather it's the perfect time for outdoor entertaining! I think we all love going outside to relax with friends and family.  To me, being outdoors and entertaining always conjures up the image of a carefree summer vacation, so even if I have no time for vacation I like to create that vibe entertaining outdoors.

Welcome to this fun blog hop about outdoor entertaining and decorating. From here you will be able to visit 6 blogs that will inspire you in different ways on outdoor living and decor. A special welcome to those of you that hopped over from Kathleen's blog Lindsay Hill Interiors. Kathleen has a fabulous sense of style. I'm always inspired by her designs! I appreciate my regular readers coming back to visit, thank you! Now let's go outdoors and decorate for a party!

I was raised in sunny warm Southern California. Summer vacations were spent outside in the swimming pool and every meal cooked on the grill. My ideal youth. I try to recapture that feeling every summer by outdoor entertaining as much as possible. However, living in Monterey, CA has put a hitch in my outdoor entertaining schemes. It's cold here in the summer! The fog and the ocean breeze makes entertaining outdoors difficult. Our dear friends live 2 blocks from the ocean in an adorable seaside cottage. They solved the problem of shivering cold nights with multiple gas heaters and a fire pit table. They also enclosed their deck with curtains keeping the warmth of the fire in. So, of course, I said 'heck yes' when they generously offered their backyard for a special celebration I was planning.

A stack of warm blankets are always available to guests.

I love the look of lanterns. I placed many lanterns throughout the backyard. Not only are they practical, I think the flickering candle light will look magical at night!

I've noticed that when a grill is turned on a crowd forms around it. These festive red chairs and high table are perfect for the BBQ grill crowd.

A drink dispenser is filled with fresh water, citrus, and cucumber to keep everyone hydrated. I also like to serve refreshing snacks of seasonal fruits when entertaining outdoors. This simple treat is watermelon, feta cheese, and a mint leaf!

It's nice to have a cozy corner outdoors. In this spot a quiet conversation can take place in the middle of all the party festivities.

These bright striped pillows I bought at HomeGoods add so much color and fun to this space.

I like simple entertaining. A good idea is to have a selection of wines and glassware out for guests to help themselves.

The place settings were kept simple and blue. I do love the accent and added interest of the white flatware and patterned napkins from HomeGoods.

The warm fire is the main attraction on the fire pit table. As the night cools, the curtains will be drawn shut. It will be cozy and warm around the fire, with stimulating conversations and funny stories!

Thank you for stopping by to see how I like outdoor entertaining! I know you are anxious to see more outdoor decor. Next on this blog hop is Sheila's blog Maison de Cinq. You will be inspired by her beautiful Southern California home! You don't want to miss her gorgeous style!
